Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced the return of $218,463.82 in unclaimed property to Penn State Health.

The funds were accepted on behalf of Penn State Health by Dr. Inginia Genao, vice dean and vice president of Penn State Health’s Office of Health Advancement and Community Engagement. According to the Treasury, the funds will be used to support community engagement initiatives.

Since taking office in 2021, Garrity said the Pennsylvania Treasury has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property, including a record of more than $334 million last year.

The Treasury is currently working to return more than $5 billion in unclaimed property to its rightful owners. According to the agency, more than one in 10 Pennsylvanians is owed unclaimed property, with the average claim valued at more than $1,000.

Unclaimed property can include dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, collectible coins, jewelry and savings bonds, including items recovered from safe deposit boxes.

Pennsylvania residents can search for unclaimed property through the Pennsylvania Treasury’s database.
