A Scranton man stood naked in a common area of his apartment building screaming at another tenant, and then struggled with police during his arrest Thursday, according to a criminal complaint.

Christopher Demarco originally called police to the Capouse Avenue apartment building at about 1 a.m., to complain that a Lillian Garcia was harassing him and threatening to turn off his utilities.

Garcia, however, told officers a different story when they interviewed her after arriving at the building. She said Demarco had been screaming and banging on his walls, disturbing the other residents.

When she began recording outside his room, intending to inform the landlord of his activities, he came to his doorway naked and began screaming at her, according to the complaint.

Officers noted the hallway was a common area of the building. Garcia provided them with a video confirming her version of the story.

Officers took Demarco into custody. As they were attempting to escort him to the police transport van, he began flailing against the doors and the officers.

Demarco resisted getting into the van, digging his feet into the metal footstep, police said.

Officers were able to gain control of Demarco by placing him on his stomach. During transport to police headquarters, he banged his head off the floor of the vehicle, causing a laceration, according to the complaint.

Once at headquarters, emergency medical personnel treated him. He refused other treatment.

Demarco faces charges of indecent exposure, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on July 22 before District Judge George Seig.
