THE BIG BOY STEAM LOCOMOTIVE IS MAKING ITS WAY THROUGH PENNSYLVANIA, AND THIS MORNING, THE TRAIN IS PASSING THROUGH WESTMORELAND COUNTY ON ITS WAY TO OHIO. THE TRAIN IS DRAWING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO PLACES LIKE LATROBE AND JEANNETTE, WHO WANT TO GET A GLIMPSE OF THE LARGEST OPERATING STEAM LOCOMOTIVE. THE RIDE IS PART OF AMERICA’S 250TH CELEBRATION. THE TRAIN IS BASED IN WYOMING, WAS IN PHILADELPHIA FOR THE 4TH OF JULY, AND HAS MADE ITS WAY TO OUR SIDE OF THE COMMONWEALTH. ONE WOMAN SAYS SHE BROUGHT HER WHOLE FAMILY TO SEE BIG BOY MAKE THE HISTORIC TRIP, AND IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING THAT WE WANT TO NOT ONLY SEE OURSELVES BUT BRING OUR WHOLE FAMILY HERE SO WE HAVE OUR KIDS. AND THEN MY IN-LAWS ARE OVER HERE, MY SISTER IN LAW. SO AND THERE’S LIKE JUST TONS OF PEOPLE HERE. I THINK EVERYBODY JUST WANTS TO MAKE SURE THEY GET TO SEE IT BECAUSE LIKE YOU SAID, IT’S HISTORY IN THE MAKING. AND PEOPLE GATHERED NEAR THE TRACKS WHERE VENDORS ARE SELLING CRAFTS AND FOOD FOR THE CROWD. AND TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK. BIG BOY HAS ARRIVED IN THE COMMUNITY OF LIDDESDALE. OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN PREPARING FOR THIS VISIT FOR DAYS, AND THEY’VE BEEN SETTING UP VIEWING AREAS AND ANTICIPATING LARGE CROWDS. AFTER THE STOP, THE TRAIN MOVES TO CONWAY, BEAVER COUNTY FOR A PRIVATE EVENT AND AN OVERNIGHT STOP. BUT JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THAT. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK AT BIG BOY ARRIVING IN REIDSVILLE. The world’s largest operating steam engine moved its way through Western Pennsylvania on Saturday, with many sharing the excitement with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4!
Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 was on the East Coast for the first time in history, passing through Westmoreland and Allegheny counties for thousands to see.
