CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — Several road closures are expected to be in place for the upcoming 2026 Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit on July 15, which is being held at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Cumberland County.

The event will feature some of the United States’ most prominent national security and military leaders, including top cabinet officials. Furthermore, Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick and President Donald Trump will be in attendance.

According to the Carlisle Barracks Garrison Commander, to accommodate the event, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in effect on July 14 and 15.

Road closures and traffic restrictions that residents can expect include the following:

Post Road will be closed to all traffic throughout the day on both July 14 and 15

The section of Claremont Road between Army Heritage Drive, just beyond Louther Street, will have temporary traffic restrictions during the following periods:

July 14 and 15 from 5 to 9 a.m. – Closed to normal through traffic

July 14 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. – Closed to normal through traffic

July 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. – Closed to normal through traffic

Carlisle Barracks Garrison Commander adds that, depending on operational requirements on July 15, additional traffic restrictions may be implemented between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Specifically, Claremont Road may be temporarily closed to all traffic within the affected area if needed.

During this time, access will be maintained for event traffic, authorized Carlisle Barracks personnel supporting the event, and local traffic accessing residences and businesses within the affected area.
