Maryann K. Luther

OBITUARY

Maryann K. Luther, 81, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Allied Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born to the late Thomas Dunning and Marrest Morgan.

A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Maryann spent more than 20 years working at Brunetti’s Market while raising two sons. She later devoted 16 years to the Scranton School District as a paraprofessional. She loved working with young elementary students and took great pride in being there for them every day, offering warmth, steadiness, and genuine care.

She loved visiting the casino, shopping for herself and others, watching scary movies, and enjoying a glass of red wine. She was sassy in the best way-never afraid to speak her mind-and she made an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Michele) of Archbald, and Jason (Maureen) of Moosic; and her sister, Eleanor, of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; her parents; and her brothers, Jimmy and Foster, both of Las Vegas.

Above all, Maryann was a devoted wife and mother. Her love for animals was woven into her daily life, and her beloved dogs-Marcus, Mandy, Milo, and Charlie-were cherished as deeply as family.

Maryann will be remembered for her generous heart and the way she made those around her feel loved. She will be deeply missed.

Maryann’s Mass of Christian Burial was held at Divine Mercy Parish, by the Reverend Paul A. McDonnell. O.S.J., followed by interment in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.

Arrangements and care by Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor.
