A father’s mission to raise awareness after losing his son to fentanyl has united families at the Lackawanna County Walk for Lives.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A family’s heartbreak turned into a mission to raise awareness.

The Lackawanna County Walk for Lives event was held Saturday in Scranton to support those who have been impacted by fentanyl and other deadly substances.

The event was organized by Mike Mancini, the father of Christian Reed, a u-s marine who tragically lost his life to fentanyl at 26 years old, just 1 day after his birthday.

Now, Mancini is raising awareness by standing with other families who know the pain all too well.

“You’re not alone. There’s a lot of people just like you. One is too many. We lose 20 children a day nationally to this epidemic. Bringing awareness and education, and prevention to this is very important to me because this is what my son would want.”

Organizers say another goal of the Lackawanna County Walk for Life is to encourage stronger action against the spread of deadly substances in local communities.
