BETHLEHEM, Pa.- OraSure Technologies (OTI) is putting another property up for sale.
The maker of medical diagnostic testing and collection devices has listed 130-150 Webster Street in Bethlehem.
According to Northampton County property records, OraSure has owned the more than four-acre site for 20 years; it was purchased for just under $3 million in June of 2006.
The property is across the street from OTI’s headquarters at 220 E. First Street.
According to a company spokesperson, OraSure is still actively using the Webster Street property; if it’s sold, employees will be relocated to other OraSure facilities in Bethlehem.
The spokesperson declined to provide an asking price for the property. The real estate listing doesn’t include one, either, but says the site is “move-in ready.”
OraSure uses the 37,000 square foot building for offices and research and development.
Despite the potential sale, the spokesperson said OraSure remains “fully committed” to Bethlehem.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adopted a flexible “work where it works” approach, allowing many non-production employees to balance remote and onsite work. As part of our ongoing efforts to align our facilities with how we operate today and ensure we are using resources efficiently, we are evaluating the potential sale of our 150 Webster Street office building,” the spokesperson told 69 News, via email.
The company that would become OraSure was founded in Bethlehem in 1987 as SolarCare. It became OraSure Technologies in 2000.
OraSure’s original manufacturing site is at 1745 Eaton Avenue. That property was listed for sale last year, but the real estate listing has been taken down. OraSure still owns the property, the company spokesperson said.
In addition to the site on E. First Street, OraSure also has manufacturing and warehouse space at 2685 Opus Way in Bethlehem Township.
