Detour is to allow for construction of new roundabout just south of SR 316 in Barrow County

BARROW COUNTY, GA (July 14, 2026)– The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that, weather permitting, it will implement a full closure and detour of the northern intersection of Parkway Pointe Boulevard and Carl-Bethlehem Road to allow for construction of a new roundabout just south of SR 316 in Barrow County (Project PI No. 0013903). The detour is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 24 and last up to 12 months. According to GDOT, during the detour, motorists will continue to have access to Carl-Bethlehem Road using the southeastern intersection of Carl-Bethlehem Road and Parkway Pointe Boulevard.

To access Parkway Pointe Boulevard from Carl-Bethlehem Road, motorists will need to continue southeast past the initial intersection to the second turning left at the next Parkway Pointe Boulevard and Carl-Bethlehem Road intersection.

To access Carl-Bethlehem Road from Parkway Pointe Boulevard, motorists would need to travel east along Parkway Pointe Boulevard to the southern intersection, turning left or right onto Carl-Bethlehem Road.

Signage will be posted throughout the area alerting them of the closure and detour route. In total, the 0.71-mile detour is expected to add about three minutes of travel time. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and expect minor delays due to construction activities in the area throughout the time of the project. Visit 511GA for the latest construction updates, traffic impacts, and detour information before traveling.
