BETHLEHEM — Seasoned acoustic duo George Potts and Gordon Titcomb are set to play a free concert at The Barns on the Caroline Ferriday Preserve, 45 Main Street North in Bethlehem, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
George Potts has been making music throughout Northwestern Connecticut for over 40 years. After finishing college he spent the early 70’s in Chicago as founding member of the eclectic folk-jazz ensemble “Redwood Landing.” He moved back to rural Kent, CT in 1976 where he took up playing bass for 20+ years with his father-in-law, the noted pianist Dolph Traymon at Kent’s iconic Fife N’ Drum Restaurant. Since the mid 1990’s George has most often been seen playing with the NWCT acoustic quartet, the Joint Chiefs, or as a bassist accompanying Wanda Houston. More recently, he can be seen playing in a duo with the multi-instrumentalist Gordon Titcomb and in occasional appearances with the 1960-1970’s music era trio “Random Access Memory.”
George’s first solo CD entitled “Ends and Odds” (released October 2022) got as high as #17 on FAI National Folk Music Charts. His instrumental guitar work has twice won awards from the New England Songwriting Competition.
Gordon Titcomb is an American multi-instrumentalist, studio musician and composer. He tours with Arlo Guthrie playing banjo, mandolin and pedal steel guitar. He has also toured and performed with Hank Williams, Paul Simon, Judy Collins, Willie Nelson and Shawn Colvin.
Gordon was born in Connecticut and has composed music for Disney, HBO, ESPN and the Murray Povich Show. His book for children “The Last Train,” is based on his song of the same name and includes paintings by Wendell Minor and an introduction by Arlo Guthrie.
