The Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission reviewed a preliminary/final land development plan for a mobile home park Tuesday night at the municipal building.
The plan, offered for the Red Maple Acres Mobile Home Park, calls for a 36-home expansion on 6.5 undeveloped acres at 1170 Grange Road on the site’s eastern end.

The undeveloped portion is currently open field with outcroppings of scrub, brush and trees. The Red Maple site, approved in 2011, is home currently to 203 units on 18.8 acres.
The property is bounded by Route 222 to the north, Air Products World Headquarters and Hyatt Place Allentown to the west and Home Depot with additional future commercial space to the south and east.
The proposal calls also for a new loop road called Lancaster Lane and a thru road named Elk Drive, new parking, stormwater management, landscaping and lighting. Township reviews indicated there are steep slopes located on the site to be developed.
Further modifications remain for the project, according to township staff reports. The plan is scheduled to return before the commission at a future date.
Housing Subdivision
Planners reviewed a sketch plan for a housing development.
The proposal calls for 84 single-family homes at 4801 and 4925 East Texas Rd. titled as the Montclair Reserve Subdivision. The plan features five lots delegated to stormwater management and open space.
Two access points are envisioned for East Texas Road and a sidewalk connection to Promise Lane.
Residents who spoke during a public comment session expressed traffic, stormwater management and tree concerns. A traffic impact analysis will be done as the project moves through the approval process.
As a sketch plan, the planning commission took no formal action.
