John A. Renfer

OBITUARY

John A. Renfer, age 77, of Suscon passed away peacefully Friday evening at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the former Amy Gregoris. The couple celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary last month.

He was born in Taylor, July 11, 1948, son of the late Ralph and Philomena Cislo Renfer, was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston, Class of 1966 and a graduate of Kings College.

He was employed by Price Waterhouse, Kay Wholesale Drug and he had retired from the Earth Conservancy.

He was a very active member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister and as the treasurer of the Holy Name Society. He was a devoted father and husband whose family was everything to him. He was an avid outdoorsman and a fan of Notre Dame Football. He took great pride in his garden.

He is survived by sons John Renfer and wife Tracey, Easton and Michael Renfer and wife Melissa, Scotch Plains, NJ; a daughter LorieAnn Carmody and husband Christopher, Suscon; grandchildren Matthew, Sophia, Riley and Parker; his grand dog Wesley; brother Edward and wife Laura, Londonderry, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Lokuta-Zawacki Funeral Home, 200 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Petro, pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the members of the Holy Name Society gathering at 7:00 p.m. for the recitation of the Rosary.

Contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
