THEIR LEGACIES IN THE STEEL CITY. PITTSBURGH’S NEW WALK OF FAME, LAID OUT IN FRONT OF THE STRIP DISTRICT TERMINAL HERE ON SMALLMAN STREET. TEN STARS FOR THE TEN HONOREES, INCLUDING ACTOR MICHAEL KEATON, TO BE HONORED HERE. AND BOY, INCLUDED AMONG THIS INAUGURAL GROUP OF HONOREES. PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT JUST SHAPED PITTSBURGH, BUT LITERALLY SHAPED THE WORLD. THIS MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. PIECE KEATON IS AMONG THE TEN FAMOUS PEOPLE HONORED FOR THE INAUGURAL WALK OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY. OTHERS INCLUDE GEORGE BENSON, ANDREW CARNEGIE, NELLIE BLY, RACHEL CARSON, ROBERTO CLEMENTE, FRED ROGERS, JONAS SALK, ANDY WARHOL, AND AUGUST WILSON ALL LEFT THEIR MARK ON PITTSBURGH AND THE WORLD. PLAYWRIGHT AUGUST WILSON WAS REPRESENTED BY HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER. THE PLAYS HAVE. THERE ARE SO MANY LIFE LESSONS YOU KNOW ABOUT LOVE, ABOUT HUMANITY. HE MAY HAVE PASSED IN 2005, BUT HIS WORDS LIVE ON FOREVER, AND SO DO HIS STORIES, AND SO DO HIS PLAYS, AND SO DOES HIS SENSE OF JUSTICE. FRED ROGERS, KNOWN AS MISTER ROGERS, WAS REPRESENTED BY HIS TWO SONS, WHO SHARED THEIR FATHER’S MOST TREASURED WISH. PEOPLE ACCEPTING ONE ANOTHER, YOU KNOW, AS THEY ARE. The Pittsburgh Walk of Fame has announced its second group of inductees.Ten names will be added to the Walk of Fame in the Strip District this year:Myron Cope, Steelers and WTAE broadcaster who created the Terrible TowelMartha Graham, dancer and choreographer Charles “Teenie” Harris, photographer Franco Harris, Steelers football legend H.J. Heinz, entrepreneur Shirley Jones, actress and singer Mario Lemieux, Penguins hockey legendHenry Mancini, composer and conductor Jimmy Stewart, actorGeorge Westinghouse, engineer and industrialist “This dynamic group really represents the diversity of the talented people who have come out of southwestern Pennsylvania and made a noteworthy mark on American culture.
