A man was rescued after becoming trapped beneath a manhole in Northeast Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the 7th Police District Advisory Council, the rescue happened on the 8500 block of Bustleton Avenue and took more than 30 minutes.
Philadelphia firefighters initially responded but were unable to remove the manhole cover, then the Philadelphia Water Department was then called to the scene and ultimately opened the cover, allowing the man to be rescued.
Officials said the man had entered the underground system a couple of blocks away but was unable to find his way out.
It is currently unclear why the man was underground.
