Candlelight Philharmonic concert: The City of Carbondale in conjunction with Lackawanna County and NWNEPA will be hosting a free candlelight Philharmonic concert Saturday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park. Bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy the music.
Dickson City
Coloring contest: The Dickson City Light and Banner association will once again sponsor the annual Dickson City Christmas Coloring Contest. The contest is open to all children residing in Dickson City who are between 5 and 12 years old. Winners will be selected from three distinct age groups, and each top winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card as a prize. Everyone who enters will receive a gift bag and certificate of recognition. All entrants in the coloring contest will be given the special honor of participating in the lighting of the Christmas tree at the free community Christmas event, “A Dickson City Christmas.” This celebration will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23, at Riverside Park, Enterprise Street. Coloring pages and entry forms can be picked up at the borough building, at 801 Enterprise St. Monday-Friday during normal business hours. All entries must be submitted by Nov. 18. Don’t miss your chance to participate in this festive tradition and help light up the Dickson City Christmas tree.

Lackawanna County
Annual Halloween fest: Electric City Trolley Museum, 300 Cliff St., Scranton, annual Halloween Fest, Sunday. This event includes Melinda the Magical Witch on all excursions plus a costume contest for children with prizes given in the following categories: cutest, scariest, funniest, most original and best superhero. Excursion times are 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and 12:45 and 1:30 p.m. In the museum will be art activities, a magician and balloon art from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Bus trip: Give the perfect gift! AARP NEPA Chapter 3731 will host a bus trip to Hunterdon Playhouse and Dinner Theatre in Hampton, N.J. on April 26, 2026, to see “Some Enchanted Evening.” Enjoy an afternoon of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s greatest Broadway musical hits from “Cinderella” to “Sound of Music” performed by a cast of the most talented performers in the country. Community event: Step Up for Nay Aug, promoted by Friends of Nay Aug Park, Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nay Aug Park, free event, complete with music, face and pumpkin painting, music, food trucks and vendors, sponsored by local businesses and patrons to generate fund for the preservation and enhancement of Nay Aug Park.
