Cedar Beach Basketball Showcase begins Friday at Executive Education in Allentown | Sports

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The annual Cedar Beach Basketball Showcase begins this Friday, July 17, despite a string of teams dropping out.

The tournament provides local boy’s teams with regional competition, but Cedar Beach saw a disturbing trend prior to this weekend’s competition.

“We’re used to 60 teams.  So, we’re between 24 and 30 right now,” tournament director Glen Klein said. “Every morning I wake up I get one that came in and two that dropped.  So, we’re on the scuff where we don’t know what we have yet, but we have a tournament.  You  know, there’s teams that have paid already and I’m committed to running a tournament and that’s what we’re gonna do.”
