A Gouldsboro man kicked in the back door of his ex-girlfriend’s Taylor residence Saturday and then refused to leave, according to a criminal complaint.
Tyler Reichard, 28, faces a felony charge of criminal trespass, a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and two summary offenses.
Police say Reichard, who claims he broke in to see his children, had been drinking.
At about 6 a.m., Reichard’s sister, Brittany Smith, contacted Taylor police and told them Reichard had broken into the Atherton Street residence of his ex-girlfriend, Aubree Everett, after arriving at her home on a dirt bike.
Officers met Everett at the rear of the residence. Everett was upset and said Reichard wouldn’t leave.
Officers found Reichard in the living room, holding one of his children. He admitted he was not living at the residence but wanted to see his children.
Reichard said he had walked from his mother’s home in Gouldsboro to see his children. Officers noted he was covered in dirt and smelled of alcohol.
They noticed an open container of alcohol on the arm of the couch, near Reichard, according to the complaint.
Officers spotted a dirt bike parked behind the residence, with its engine still warm, indicating it had been recently operated.
They noted the deadbolt and door frame on the residence had been damaged, consistent with Everett’s version of events.
Officers noted that a search of state records indicated Reichard’s official address was in Gouldsboro.
Officers advised Everett to immediately seek a protection-from-abuse order.
Reichard was taken into custody and remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on July 20 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
