OBITUARY

Robert J. Ryan, 87, of Taylor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the former Rosemary Pinto Ryan, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Samuel and Anna Marcinkevage Ryan. He was a graduate of Johnson Technical Institute. Following high school, Robert served honorably in the United States Army, including three years stationed in Germany as a Military Policeman.

His love for his family remained paramount throughout his life, especially his devotion to his beloved wife, Rosemary. Their bond, rooted in deep affection and mutual respect, served as an enduring example for their family.

Robert’s life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to service. A devoted parishioner of St. Ann Basilica, he found great joy in his faith and involvement within the church community. His career as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service reflected his dedication to serving others, a commitment he further demonstrated through his role as secretary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union. He also served his community as a board member of the First Credit Union.

A man of many interests, Robert was an avid train and military aircraft enthusiast as well as avid NY Giants, Yankees, and Rangers fan. He cherished quiet evenings at home with his beloved dog, Tinsel, while working crossword puzzles and enjoying a good book.

In addition to his wife, Rosemary, he is survived by two sons, Francis and Todd Mickavicz; four grandchildren, Kayla Quinlan, Mackenzie Mickavicz, Madison Mickavicz, and Mason Mickavicz; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Ryan, and his sister, Elizabeth Grado.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, July 19, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. At the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St, Taylor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Basilica Parish by Rev. James Paisley, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery.
