Cognetti has right principles for Congress

Editor: I’ve been closely observing our local leaders over the past few years and believe Paige Cognetti is the right choice for Congress.

My family’s top priorities include:

Healthcare Quality & Affordability: Paige has consistently supported Medicare and Medicaid. She aims to prevent healthcare middlemen from denying care and medications prescribed by doctors. She has invested in community wellness programs, including projects focused on behavioral health and mental wellness, drug overdose prevention, and violence prevention.

Living Expenses: Paige understands the struggles of working families first-hand.  She was never fed from a “silver spoon” and has experienced financial hardship personally, including having her own student loans, childcare expenses, car and mortgage loans. She plans to support small businesses, allocate more federal funds to municipalities, and eliminate unnecessary fees that benefit millionaires. She will fight against broad tariffs that harm families, and advocate for targeted tariffs to protect manufacturing.

Food Insecurity: Paige helped to address this concerning issue by launching and leading Scranton’s Hunger Task Force, comprised of community leaders across sectors.  She addressed gaps in service deliveries and worked to eliminate disparities in the region.

Financial Responsibility: Paige led the city to exit Act 47 (financial distress status), achieved an investment-grade credit rating and saved $2.2 million through bond refinancing. She maintained balanced budgets with annual surpluses and proposed a budget with no tax increase during challenging times. She prioritizes fiscal responsibility and the well-being of her constituents.

Finally, Paige embodies core values I respect. She is a leader with strong morals.  Morals and ethics that reflect America’s founding values, and prioritizes doing what’s right for her constituents, even if it comes at personal cost. She believes “We The People” represents everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender or who you love.

Let’s elect leaders we can trust,
