Erie News Now has learned that at least one person became sick after consuming a drink sold by a vendor at this week’s 8 Great Tuesdays event.
A new food truck vendor from New York state was selling a beverage containing cannabis during the summertime event along Erie’s bayfront.
Erie News Now is aware of at least one woman who went to the emergency room after consuming the drink.
Erie Events Executive Director Gus Pine confirmed the situation and said all vendors are inspected by the Erie County Department of Health.
After receiving a complaint, Pine said Erie Events determined the vendor sold a hemp-based protein drink during Tuesday’s event.
The food truck, which also operates at events in New York state, where recreational cannabis is legal, has been barred from participating in future events in Erie, according to Pine.
The Erie County Department of Health is following up on the incident.
