A state prison inmate serving a decadeslong sentence for attempted murder has been convicted of trying to rape an employee at the State Correctional Institution Waymart, the Wayne County district attorney’s office announced Wednesday.
The Wayne County jury found Talen Trice, 31, guilty of attempted rape, assault by a prisoner of a prison employee and related charges after only 16 minutes of deliberation, according to District Attorney A.G. Howell.
At the time of the crime, Trice was already serving a 40- to 80-year sentence for a 2022 Huntington County conviction for attempted murder.
Trice is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 15.
Howell noted that Trice will now be subject to Megan’s Law and is to be evaluated as a sexually violent predator.
The DA thanked the jury for their “prompt action in addressing this violent, terrifying and despicable crime.”
