SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Scranton’s FIFA Fan Fest returned to Courthouse Square this weekend as the World Cup watch party heads into its final matches.
The city brought back the FIFA Fan Zone for Saturday’s bronze medal match and Sunday’s World Cup final, drawing friends and families downtown despite rocky weather earlier in the day. Attendees played games, grabbed food and took in the atmosphere while watching the tournament.
The weekend also includes multiple musical acts, with Hanson scheduled as Saturday’s main show. Courthouse square was packed with some fans travelling hours to see the band.
“We were glad that the rain cleared out,” said Kara Karstetter, a Hanson fan and fan zone attendee.
“We drove about two hours to get here, and we spent the night so I was hoping that the rain would hold off,” Colleen Burfield said.
Fox56’s Ben Freeman will have more coverage of the Fan Fest and the World Cup finale Sunday.
