A driver is in critical condition after police said he lost control of his car and crashed into a parked vehicle, sending debris into a nearby motel in Northeast Philadelphia.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, officers and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 7600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 30-year-old man was driving a gold 1999 Acura RL southbound in the outer lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle.
The Acura then mounted the curb line and plowed into the parking lot of the Roosevelt Inn, where it violently struck a legally parked and unattended white 2022 Hyundai Tucson. Police said the impact propelled debris into the building, shattering the motel’s glass entrance door and an adjacent window.
Both the Hyundai and the motel sustained significant structural and property damage, according to police.
Police said Philadelphia Fire Department Medics responded and transported the driver of the Acura to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
The Crash Investigation Division is leading the ongoing investigation, according to police.
