PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A boy who had been missing for a few days was struck and killed by a freight train in Northeast Philadelphia late Monday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. in Bustleton, police said the boy was walking on the tracks that go over Grant Avenue, near Welsh Road, when he was hit by a freight train.
The train stopped on the tracks. Welsh Road was blocked off for hours as police investigated. The scene has since been cleared and Welsh Road is open for the morning rush.
Crash investigators said the boy had been missing since Sunday. They didn’t release any more details about his identity or exact age.
Police do not believe this was a suicide. An investigation is ongoing.
