SCRANTON, PA — Scranton Fringe, in collaboration with New Vintage Ensemble, has announced the U.K. premiere of “Ulysses of Scranton” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026 in Scotland. But before it leaves, two performances will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. at the Sanctuary Theater, 1735 N. Main Ave. Tickets cost $20 and available now at scrantonfringe.org.
“Ulysses of Scranton” is described as a loose, loving adaptation of James Joyce’s “Ulysses,” creatively reimagined through the distinct lens of Northeast Pennsylvania. “At its center is a group of actors attempting to stage the “impossible” novel—only to find that as they dive deeper into the text, fiction and reality begin to blur. Characters morph, timelines collapse, and the stage becomes a liminal space where Scranton meets Dublin in surprising and poignant ways.”
This work was premiered as part of Scranton Fringe’s 2025 Festival, then went on tour to Ballina, Ireland. And now it heads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, August 7-29.
