The more than $1.6 billion deal is still needing regulatory approval. Kroger says Giant Eagle stores are expected to continue to operate under Kroger’s leadership, but they may need to sell *** limited number of stores.

Earlier this month, Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reported that the grocery store chain said it was lowering prices on 300 of its most popular items through Labor Day.

In a social media post on Sunday night, Trump called Giant Eagle a great American grocery company and said, in part, “Giant Eagle, like Walmart, is stepping up in a big and bold way to answer my call to lower costs for working families.”
