A serious crash involving multiple vehicles has closed part of I-279 northbound in Ross Township, Allegheny County. The crash, which appears to involve at least three vehicles including a tractor-trailer, shut down the interstate between the Bellevue/West View (Exit 7) and Camp Horne Road (Exit 8) interchanges. According to troopers, a tractor-trailer was heading south when the driver lost control, crossed a median and hit a SUV heading north. The driver of the SUV died at the scene. Emergency responders are at the scene. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
