NWS: Video confirms tornado near Portersville, Butler County Tuesday
MUDDY CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
The National Weather Service said that during intense storms on Tuesday, a tornado appeared to have touched down in Butler County.
In a post on social media, officials said they obtained video showing that a tornado was briefly on the ground near Portersville.
NWS officials said the video captured the tornado across from the 100 block of Bauder School Road.
On Wednesday, a storm survey team from the NWS is scheduled to visit Butler and Lawrence counties to look for possible tornadic damage.
“Areas of interest are northwest of New Castle, PA near Route 422 and continuing southeast towards Portersville, PA,” the NWS said.
