SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) – An Allegheny County man was charged for allegedly threatening to kill a member of Congress.
Robert Hlovchiec, 32, was indicted on 12 counts in the Western District of Pennsylvania on charges of interstate threats and influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official by threat.

The Justice Department says that in February and March, Hlovchiec posted YouTube comments threatening acts of violence against a member of Congress. Court records did not identify the Congressperson who was targeted by the comments.
Hlovchiec, who allegedly identified himself as a Nazi and white supremacist, left comments detailing his desire to carry out mass shootings, assassinations, and other acts of violence, the Justice Department stated in its indictment.
The comments outlined in the indictment included threats against a member of Congress, including one saying, “I would put a bullet in [Victim 1]’s head. [Victim 1] isn’t American.
Hlovchiec is also alleged to have commented that “America is not a Muslim country,” that “America is a white Christian nation,” and “TRANS PEOPLE NEED KILLED.”
Hlovchiec is facing six counts of interstate threats, which carry a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
He also faces six counts of interstate threats and influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official, which carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
Hlovchiec pleaded not guilty on July 17 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The FBI is conducting the investigation leading to the indictment.
