LEHIGH TWP., Pa. – A new diner is serving up omelettes, club sandwiches, steaks and more in Northampton County.

The diner replaces Diamond Grill, a restaurant that Tassie previously operated with a former partner for about two months.
Tassie’s wife, Julia, is continuing to assist with operations, and the couple’s decision to switch gears with a diner was prompted primarily by local residents’ feedback.
“In opening Diamond Grill, we realized that fine dining is not for this area,” Julia said.
“… A lot of local people coming in were telling our servers that they wanted to see a diner instead of a fine dining restaurant. So, after listening to the community, we changed the concept.”
“Diamond Grill’s menu was more upscale, and the Diner on Lehigh menu is a lot more casual,” Nelson added.
Diner on Lehigh also features a new management team and look.

In recent days, the Tassies implemented cosmetic upgrades, including new blue wall paint and retro diner décor.
“On Sunday at 1 p.m., we closed the [Diamond Grill] doors, started renovating and finished last night around midnight,” Nelson said. “We also have some new signs and neon lights coming in the next day or two.”
Diner on Lehigh, with seating for around 60 guests, offers appetizers such as chicken wings, pierogies, quesadillas and loaded fries or tots; wraps such as Buffalo chicken, cheesesteak, chicken Caesar and tuna salad; and sandwiches such as a reuben, fish sandwich, meatball parm sandwich and BBQ cheesesteak.
Nearly 20 entrees (served with rolls and butter, choice of soup or salad, choice of potato – baked, sweet or mashed, and a vegetable) include broiled haddock, chicken alfredo with linguine, meatloaf with gravy, grilled ham steak, 12-ounce ribeye steak, spaghetti with meatballs, shrimp scampi with linguine and more.
Entrees start at $12.95, while most sandwiches are $7.95-$11.95.

Guests also can enjoy burgers such as the Jules (topped with fried egg, bacon and lettuce) and Lehigh (topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, bacon and Swiss cheese); hot open-face sandwiches such as ham, turkey and roast beef; and a wide array of soups, salads and sides.
Breakfast items, available all day, include popular picks such as pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, eggs Benedict, any-style egg platters, breakfast quesadillas and breakfast sandwiches.
There’s also a variety of breakfast specials, including a “Roundup” (choice of two pancakes or French toast, two eggs any style and two strips of bacon) and sausage melt (two scrambled eggs, sausage patties and cheese in a pancake with home fries).
“You can get breakfast anytime you want, which I love,” Nelson said.
“When I go to a diner and can’t make up my mind what I want, I’ll get a Western omelette. We’re offering a lot of fresh dishes for breakfast, including our own cream chipped beef, scrapple and home fries.”
Diner on Lehigh occupies an updated Lehigh Town Center space that was also previously home to A Ca Mia, a BYOB Italian restaurant that closed in January 2023 after 10 years of business, and Baker Ben’s Bakery, which relocated to Delaware Avenue in Palmerton earlier this year.

The diner is the Tassies’ third business in the Lehigh Town Center, supplementing their Blue Mountain Billiards pool hall and NJT Arms gun store.
Diner on Lehigh is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
A private party room, accommodating around 50 people, is expected to debut in the fall, Nelson said.
