Scranton Fringe will perform an original production at arts festival in Scotland.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A Scranton Fringe production is heading to the world’s largest arts festival.

“Ulysses of Scranton” is a northeast Pennsylvania take on the classic Irish novel “Ulysses” by James Joyce.

The play premiered last year here in the Electric City.

Thursday night, cast members completed a full dress rehearsal for this weekend’s round of encores before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

“We’re really proud of this show. It’s really funny and tender and silly yet still has a deep meaning, and it’s such a unique adaptation of a classic work, and we’re really excited to not only have created it together but to be sending it to such a major international stage,” said Conor Kelly O’Brien, director, Scranton Fringe.

“Ulysses of Scranton” will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Sanctuary Theater in Scranton.
