Families preparing for the upcoming school year will have an opportunity to receive free school supplies this weekend as Round Room, LLC, a Verizon authorized retailer, hosts its annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.
Now in its 14th year, the nationwide event will distribute an estimated $3 million worth of free backpacks to students across the country. The giveaway is designed to help ease the financial burden many families face during the back-to-school shopping season.
The giveaway will take place on July 26, beginning at 1 p.m. Officials expect lines to form before the event starts as hundreds of families are anticipated to participate.

In addition to receiving a free backpack, attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities. Depending on the location, festivities may include dunk tanks, obstacle courses, giveaways from local businesses, and other entertainment.
The event is part of Round Room’s ongoing effort to support students and families as they prepare for a new academic year. The annual giveaway has helped thousands of students nationwide start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.
