The whole city has been buzzing since we found out LeBron James is signing with the 76ers.
The Eagles are excited too.
“It’s just legendary, man,” linebacker Jihaad Campbell said to NBC10 at his 2nd Annual Back to School event. “It brings a lot of hope to the city, a lot of great spirits to the city. Of course, Philly is going to have a great welcome for him to come home. It’s amazing.”
The news broke on Friday that James was joining the Sixers and the team officially announced the deal on Monday morning.
“At the end of the day, it’s LeBron,” Jordan Davis said to NBC10 at his Big Man football camp. “What can you say? It speaks for [itself]. Just the mentality. Hopefully we can both feed off of it. Not just the Sixers but the Eagles as well.”
It’s probably safe to assume we’ll see plenty of Eagles players making their way across the street to the Xfinity Mobile Arena this season to watch LeBron play.
The Sixers stole headlines all weekend with the LeBron news but the Eagles will be back front and center this week as they report for training camp on Tuesday before having their first practice of the summer on Wednesday morning.
Training camp can be draining and doesn’t leave much down time for players. But defensive tackle Byron Young would probably try to make time for a golf outing if the city’s newest arrival wants to join him.
“When I saw it, I was excited,” Young said. “I’m a huge LeBron fan. Shoot, I’m excited to have him here. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to play golf with him. That’s on my bucket list: Playing golf with LeBron.”
