The event will highlight their lifelong service and raise funds for the sisters’ care.

DUNMORE, Pa. — Our Lady of Peace in Dunmore is a home for retired Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. More than 100 retired sisters live there, after dedicating their lives to serving God.

“The thing I appreciate most is the peace. It was very hard for me to leave the ministry I was doing because I loved it,” Sister Jane Connolly said.

The retired sisters have spent their lives helping others.

“They serviced our schools, our hospitals, our parishes all these years, and now it’s time for the community to give back to the sisters,” Board President Ann Rink said.

This Friday, there is a benefit to raise money for the care of the retired IHM Sisters. The IHM Sisters Celebration is a way to honor the retired sisters while raising money for their retirement. The event starts at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour and continues with a program.

“At retirement, we can know that we will live in community and share our lives, our prayer, and be cared for,” Sister Cor Immaculatum said.

“The generosity of people just puts food on the table. It’s a gift. It’s a blessing,” Connolly said.

The IHM Sisters’ Celebration is this Friday at 5 p.m. at Marywood University’s Nazareth Hall.
