ALSACE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Tuesday’s storms left severe damage on Wanner Road in Alsace Township.

Multiple massive trees were ripped from the ground, some landing on homes as the storm moved through the area around noon.

“It just got dark, and it started raining. And then it got very, very windy. And it rained so bad that you couldn’t even see out your window,” neighbor Marsha Horning said.

Marsha Horning lives just two doors away. She says once the storm passed, she came out to assess the damage.

“The stuff was blowing against the window, like bits of leaves and sticks and whatever. And when it was all over, the sun came out, and everything was full of damage,” Horning said.

The 69 News crew on the scene was told the owner of the damaged home is away on vacation, so fortunately, no one was hurt.

However, the damage was not limited to just this neighborhood.

Across Berks County, trees and branches came down, some roads were blocked, and at one point, more than 2,000 Met-Ed customers were without power.

“No power, no. Supposedly, there’s damage on a lot of the roads around here,” Horning said.

Crews and residents are actively still cutting through trees and beginning the cleanup process.
