ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A video game creator from Allentown made a splash earlier this year when he released a game about Route 22.
And now he’s back with another locally themed title, just in time for summer!

The game is based on the lake at Beltzville State Park in Carbon County.
“Just trying to give people a little laugh. A little smile. Because it’s funny, I feel,” said Matthew Blum, Founder of LIghtly-Salted Productions.
The plot of the game is that a food truck has tipped over, spilling all of its contents into the lake.
That sends a dad and his duckie tube into a free-for all, chomping as many hot dogs and pretzels as he can while avoiding grumpy geese, dirty diapers and algae blooms. Blum says the idea came from childhood memories.
“Every once in a while, (Beltzville Lake) would have some bacteria issues. And I do remember as a child going there. Where I expected to go swimming and getting there and you couldn’t go swimming because it was closed because of bacteria levels. So that was kind of in the back of my mind,” he explained.
His previous video game, Route 22 Rampage, sold out. This one is available for Android, iPhone and web browsers.
“They can play on the website, BeltzvilleLIghtly-Salted.com and there’s a whole leader board on there where you can try to get into the top 10,” Blum said.
Blum promises another locally themed video game is coming. Could it center around the 69 News team? What would that look like?
“Basically, you guys going out getting stories, maybe racing around getting stories. Racing around getting your camera out. And then you’ve got to edit it really fast and get it to the newsroom,” Blum theorized.
