BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem native Lilly Moss is taking to the Wind Creek Steel Stage on Musikfest’s opening night.
“My mom called me and she goes, ‘Guess whose opening for Russell Dickerson?’ and I’m like, trying not to scream in the middle of the gym with everyone around me,” Moss said.
Born and raised in Bethlehem, the young singer is no stranger to Musikfest.
“I love performing at Musikfest. Every year, I grew up in Bethlehem going to Musikfest every year, so I’ve always wanted to play fest,” Moss explained.
Moss has performed several times on the smaller stages around the festival.
“It’s always a good time at Musikfest, ‘cause everybody just wants to have some fun,” she said.
Moss started vocal lessons in sixth grade, then piano, and soon she started writing her own songs.
“Bethlehem, Easton, the whole Lehigh Valley does a great job of supporting local musicians, so I feel like even when I was younger going out wherever I was, we were always seeing live music and I think that was a huge inspiration for mine,” she said.
At just 21 years old, Moss has landed on Spotify’s all new country playlist, even working with a Grammy nominated producer with her latest single released in June.
The rising star’s journey wasn’t an easy one. Moss is a childhood cancer survivor.
“It was something that flipped my family’s life upside down forever, but we use it to give back now. We continue to raise money and use my music. And like I say my second life to continue giving back to those who are still fighting and for the families and siblings and of course patients that are being affected,” she explained.
Moss is getting ready to graduate from Lafayette College. But before that, she’s accomplishing another goal: making it to the main stage at Musikfest.
“I’m truthfully just really, really excited,” she said.
