Officials and members of the North Scranton Rotary Club and South Abington Twp. recently dedicated a new bench in the township park to the memory of former club member and township resident Al Scheatzle. Scheatzle was the proprietor of Schiff’s Marketplace and Food Service in North Scranton and was a member of the North Scranton Rotary Club for nearly 30 years. Scheatzle served as the club president in 2006 and 2007 and received multiple Paul Harris Fellow awards in recognition of his contributions to the club and Rotary International and its programs. He was a township resident for 15 years and frequently enjoyed the park before his death in 2014.
