Sheila Elaine Becker
OBITUARY
Sheila Elaine Becker brightened every room with her infectious smile, and now she is smiling down on us with the angels in Heaven. With family and friends by her side, Sheila passed away peacefully in her home on July 25, 2026.
At 70 years old, Sheila was diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma brain tumor and was given 6-12 months to live. But Sheila is a strong fighter with an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and outlived everyone’s expectations. During her 19-month-long fight, she was able to celebrate another year of holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries, watch the seasons change, spend ample time with family and friends, and even take a vacation to the beach. At the age of 72, Sheila’s body succumbed to the tumor, but her spirit lives on in glory with our God and Father in Heaven, where we will reunite with her someday. Sheila was a devoted wife, mom, and sister, but her favorite title was Nana. Over the past decade, she lived for her granddaughters laughter and hugs and never tired of the endless hours of crafts, games, and make-believe. When Sheila was not playing with her granddaughters, she could be found in her garden, reading her Bible or making cards on her sun porch, or on a cruise ship with her husband, Jeffrey, of 48 years. Sheila was also a devoted friend, sending cards, making meals, and visiting others to provide care, comfort, and love. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. True to her compassionate nature, Sheila graduated from nursing school in 1974 and tenderly served patients through hospital work, home health care, private duty nursing, and, most recently, with her husband at the Neurosensory Center of Eastern Pennsylvania in Kingston, PA.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Jeffrey, of 48 years; her daughters, Jennifer Kesselring and Amanda Creech; four beloved granddaughters; and her sister, Brenda Gaupp. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Evelyn Dressler.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3, at the Frey-Fetsock Funeral Home in Newfoundland, PA. Visitation will begin at 11am with the service at noon, officiated by Pastor Jon Buxton. A luncheon will follow at 2:30 at the Honesdale Golf Club.
Per Sheila’s request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lakeville Community Church (P.O. Box 4, Hawley, PA, 18428) or the Lakeville Community Pantry (323 Tenth Street, Honesdale, PA, 18431), which is a part of the Wayne County Food Pantry.
