First Scientific Society of Natural History: 1812 celebrates the Academy of Natural Sciences’ founding as America’s first scientific institution devoted to natural history. At this Firstival, you’ll encounter dinosaurs, dioramas, and hands-on discoveries. The milestone is honored through a public sculpture by 23-year-old emerging artist Ibi Padrón Venegas, whose spray-paint and acrylic work draws on themes of curiosity, interconnectedness, and the natural world. Padrón Venegas, known for large-scale murals and an emerging interest in sculptural practice, said the Academy has long fueled their fascination with scientific research and called the commission an honor.
