Officers arrested a Dickson City man Wednesday on charges he made death threats on social media directed at law enforcement and public officials, including President Donald Trump.
The U.S. Secret Service initially received a referral from the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center regarding online Facebook posts made by Stacy W. Mann, 51, containing death threats, according to a state police news release.
State police conducted a joint investigation with the Secret Service and found evidence showing Mann indicated his intent to livestream the murders of the president, law enforcement officers, state senators and representatives, judges, district attorneys, other government officials and individuals of Jewish descent.
On July 10, investigators interviewed a former employer who reported Mann had recently been fired from a local plumbing business and evicted from a home at 320 Pancoast St. The witness told officers that Mann was “obsessed with killing government officials,” spoke about it constantly and had a known history of violent behavior, according to a criminal complaint.
Continuing investigation revealed a July 15 post in which Mann referred to himself as “God’s assassin” and posted explicit threats directed at Trump. On July 16, he threatened to use a firearm against members of Congress, prosecutors and law enforcement officers.
Mann was taken into custody without incident following an investigation led by the state police Political Violence Threat Unit.
Court records show Mann has an extensive prior criminal history, including previous convictions for robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on law enforcement, drug offenses and theft, according to the complaint.
Mann is charged with making terroristic threats and other related offenses.
