LEHIGH TWP., NORTHAMPTON CO. (WOLF) — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that followed a domestic incident Wednesday afternoon in Lehigh Township.
According to state police, officers with the Lehigh Township Police Department were dispatched to the 4100 block of Heritage Lane around 3:51 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute involving a 49-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman.
State police said a confrontation occurred after officers entered the home. During the encounter, police deployed a Taser before an officer shot the 49-year-old man.
The man was transported by Northampton Regional EMS to a local hospital. His condition has not been released.
The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Major Case Team is leading the investigation.
Assisting agencies include the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, the Troop M Forensic Services Unit, the Walnutport Borough Police Department, the Moore Township Police Department, the Slatington Borough Police Department and the Lehigh Township Police Department.
State police have not released the identities of those involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.
