Alex Kozdron converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to give the University of Scranton men’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Moravian University in a Landmark Conference match Tuesday night at Weiss Field.
The Royals (5-0 league, 10-0-3 overall), who are ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division III, held Moravian to five shots, one on goal, in posting their 12th shutout of the season.
Women’s soccer
At Bethlehem, a three-goal outburst in the second half enabled the University of Scranton to pull away to a 4-0 win over Moravian University in Landmark Conference action Tuesday night.
Jenna Borelli gave the Royals (5-0, 10-2-2) a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. It stayed that way until goals by Aileen Carr in the 55th minute, Peyton DiLello in the 65th minute and Lena Madjor in the 78th minute broke things open.
Defensively, Scranton held Moravian to one shot in notching its 10th shutout of the season.
Women’s volleyball
At the John Long Center, the University of Scranton downed Drew University, 3-0, in a Landmark Conference match. Scores were 25-22, 25-10, 27-25.
Deanna Whelpley had 13 kills and three digs for the Royals (2-1, 13-8). Maddie Forry added 14 digs, while Camryn Hoffman totaled 13 digs and one service ace. Cammi Quirk contributed three kills, 32 assists and eight digs, while Lauren Angelucci chipped in eight kills and two digs.
Cedar Crest 3, Keystone 1: At Allentown, Keystone College fell to Cedar Crest College in a United East Conference match, 22-25, 25-18, 25-3, 25-15.
Serenity Marshall had six kills and seven digs for the Lady Giants (0-5, 1-18). Rachel Davis had five kills and three total blocks. Jamilah Higgins recorded four kills and Naema Alatorre chipped in nine assists and two service aces. Nataly Bermudez totaled 24 digs while Nat Reyes and Hailey Mowry had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
