SPRING TWP., Pa. – Work continues on the Broadcast District site in Spring Township.
“Things are going really well right now. The project is completely underway, there’s a lot of activity on site,” said Matt Robinson, Senior Vice President, Mixed Use SJC Ventures.
Atlanta-based SJC Ventures, the developers behind the restaurant, retail, and residential space, say plans are moving forward as scheduled.
“If you’ve been by the site, you’ll see that it’s really starting to take shape. We’re getting the first rounds of parking lots, and curbs, and really starting to see the site come together,” Robinson said.
“We’ve also got several buildings that are going vertical as well. We’ve got about five buildings that are starting construction on the retail side and three that are starting on our apartment residences,” he added.
It’s a loaded lineup and a who’s who of some top-tier commercial talent.
“Ruth Chris Steak House, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, BJ’s Brewhouse, First Watch, Shake Shack, and Dave’s Hot Chicken,” said Robinson.
“We also have Luna’s Nail Lounge, Hair Cuttery, European Wax Center, Jay Crew, Sephora, so it’s a true destination for people to come and visit,” Robinson added.
Developers say the area is prime real estate.
“The adjacent retail centers already draw people from hours away, but this development is gonna draw people in and make them want to stay here,” Robinson said.
They say the first retail tenants are expected to open in the spring, with grocer Whole Foods holding a grand opening the following fall, and the apartment complex to start leasing early next year.
There’s also the economic impact to consider.
“It’s going to bring a ton of jobs to the market. 120,000 square feet of commercial space,” Robinson said.
“This is going to bring a lot of employees to the area. These aren’t yesterday’s retail jobs; these are pretty decent-paying jobs,” he said.
