OHIO COUNTY, W. Va. — Bethlehem Apostolic Church held a “Stuff the Bus” event Saturday, collecting school supplies and donations with the goal of helping 500 students.
The drive took place in the church’s parking lot and was led by volunteers from the North Wheeling Community Youth Center, along with volunteers from the church. Organizers said they saw a really good turnout this year and accepted many donations and supplies for students in need.
“We’re collecting items for back to school. Bookbags, paper, pencils, anything the kids can use for back to school. Cloths, food — we have a wide range of stuff. Books, anything you know that people have that they’re using,” said Shirley Martin, a Stuff the Bus volunteer. “We’ve already got a van full so…”
A giveaway of the donated school supplies is scheduled for Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at the North Wheeling Community Dream Center rear entrance. Supplies will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
