Families and friends gathered at the Regency at South Shore on Saturday for LECOM’s 20th annual Butterfly Release, a tradition that offers comfort and remembrance for those who have lost loved ones.
During the afternoon ceremony, participants released butterflies in memory of family members and friends, whether their loss occurred this year or decades ago.
The program included prayers, reflection, and meditation before the symbolic butterfly release, creating a peaceful opportunity for attendees to celebrate the lives of those they continue to remember.
Organizers said the event is open to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one and serves as a meaningful way to find healing while honoring cherished memories.
Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit LECOM’s hospice program and other aging services, helping provide compassionate care and support for patients and their families throughout the community.
