A Nov. 4 confrontation between two men on Peach Street in Erie reportedly led one to spray the other with pepper spray and the other to shoot his combatant in the buttocks, according to Erie police.

The reported shooter is facing criminal charges for his accused actions.

Jason A. Cambra, whom police said is 48, was arraigned Nov. 5 by Erie 5th Ward District Judge Paul Bizzarro on felony counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of possession of a weapon, recklessly endangering and simple assault, according to Erie police and court records. Bizzarro set bond at $25,000.

A lawyer for Cambra was not listed on his criminal docket sheet Nov. 5.

Erie police accuse Cambra of shooting a 42-year-old man during a confrontation police determined took place in the 3000 block of Peach Street. The shooting was reported Nov. 4 at about 5:45 p.m.

Police were initially alerted to a gunshot victim who had arrived at Saint Vincent Hospital, and also received a report of a shooting, Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said Nov. 5. Officers who went to the 3000 block of Peach Street saw blood spatter on a building and in a parking lot, Lorah said.

Police later found Cambra in the 2600 block of Peach Street, with pepper spray on his face. He told police he was sprayed and then fired a round at the person who sprayed him, according to Lorah.

Cambra is tentatively scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 20.
