Crushers swept by Miners; Lake Erie finishes 12-game trip 3-9 – Morning Journal

Sussex County finished a three-game sweep of the visiting Crushers with a 10-1 victory on Aug. 2.

The Miners outscored Lake Erie (29-43) by a combined 36-10 over the weekend.

Justin Mays (0-3) made his third start with Lake Erie, and Sussex County got to Mays for seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out one and walked one.

The Crushers scored their run in the seventh inning on a single by third baseman Pavin Parks, who had two of Lake Erie’s six hits in the game.

James Jett, Jarrod Watkins and Luis Acevedo each doubled for Lake Erie.

The Crushers went 3-9 on their four-city, two-week road trip, including losing their last four in a row. After a day off, Mississippi visits ForeFront Field in Avon for three games beginning Aug. 4.
