SPRING TWP., Pa. – An 18-year-old man is dead after a vehicle was found submerged in a quarry in Berks County early Sunday morning.
Berks County dispatchers were called at 6:44 a.m. for reports of a water emergency in the 1000 block of Yerger Boulevard in Spring Township at the former E.J. Breneman Quarry.
Investigators say that a vehicle was submerged in the quarry.
The Berks County Deputy Coroner responded to the scene at 9:21 a.m., and the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at 11:38 a.m., according to officials.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at Reading Hospital.
Officials have identified the man but are withholding his name until his family is informed.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office and the Spring Township Police Department
are conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death.
