At the summer fest, guests could go berry picking, take guided hikes, and learn about habitat conservation.
JESSUP, Pa. — On Sunday, Blueberries and Fire: A Summer Fest took over the nature conservancy’s dick and Nancy Eales Preserve in Jessup.
Guests could pick fresh blueberries and huckleberries, enjoy guided hikes, and learn about habitat conservation and prescribed fire.
“It’s great for people to see what’s in their backyard. We have people from the community coming out, some people that come here regularly, and some that this is their first time. We also have people from other parts of the state coming that heard about this work, and so it’s great to get them out to Jessup and see some of the work that we’re doing here,” said Kevin Yode, of The Nature Conservancy.
There were also reptile ecologists on hand to teach families about native snakes like rattlesnakes and copperheads.
