The RailRiders compiled 20 hits, including four home runs, as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre put an exclamation point on its series sweep of the Iowa Cubs with a 13-3 victory Sunday at Principal Park.
George Lombard Jr. went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and a run, Oswaldo Cabrera went 4 for 6 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs and J.C. Escarra went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs for the RailRiders.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre outscored Iowa, 50-18, in the six-game set and stretched its win streak to seven.
The RailRiders (22-9 second half, 59-46 overall) are atop the International League East second-half standings, a game ahead of the Durham Bulls.
Escarra lined a solo home run to right to give the RailRiders a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
Kevin Alcántara answered for Iowa (13-20, 43-62) in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI groundout.
However, the RailRiders pulled away in the second. Lombard hit a sacrifice fly to center, Escarra launched an RBI double off the wall in left and Marco Luciano crushed a two-run homer to left center for a 5-1 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Escarra grounded an RBI single to first, and Cabrera belted a two-run homer to right center for an 8-1 lead.
Jonathon Long homered to left center to cut the deficit to 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
However, the RailRiders once again piled on in the sixth. Yanquiel Fernández hit a sacrifice fly to center, Christian Bethancourt ripped a two-run homer to center and Lombard hit a two-run double to left to stretch the lead to 13-2.
Ethan Hearn had a solo homer in the ninth for Iowa.
The RailRiders return home for a six-game set against the Rochester Red Wings starting Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at PNC Field.
